Challenge
The Daybook portals are the dominant way that news media in Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth learn about upcoming events. Local PR, marketing, entrepreneur, corporate and non-profit professionals purchase space in the Daybook and automatically receive exposure to virtually every media outlet in the region. Drawing on impressive growth, Daybook executives approached What’s Up Interactive about building version 2 of the company’s Web product, including the flagship Web site, companion e-mail, admin section and e-commerce engine.
Benefits
What’s Up Interactive created the forerunner for the Daybook concept in 1989. In 2005, the product was spun off into a separate company, relying on What’s Up for technical consulting. Daybook’s operations team knew how the product needed to grow and working together with us, formed a tight working team focused on all three aspects of the product: the public interface, the customer’s experience when purchasing Daybook products, and the Daybook staff’s ability to manage the company online.
Project Details
IThe Daybook engine is a complex solution designed to reach busy media professionals every day, provide an easy way for PR pros to make a purchase, and with minamal effort, allow Daybook personnel to provide metrics on every story’s performance. Built from the ground up, What’s Up developed a stable, secure engine that performed extremely well for focus groups and had a positive impact on site traffic and revenue growth during the first week it launched. Daybook staff can easily manage hundreds of customers and thousands of stories, process credit card charges in real time, offer readers extensive search functionality including optimization for search engines and manage a wide range of revenue resources including banner ads and local “expert” listings.
Return on Investments for Daybook Network
ROI was immediate. Daybook reports billing rose more than 50% during the first month after the new 2.0 platform launched, and the number of subscribers grew at a faster pace than prior to relaunch.
